1. Feline freakshow?
Self-styled
“Catman” Dennis Avner underwent several bizarre surgeries to
metamorphose into what he is today. They included skin implants to wear
whiskers, shaping of his teeth to resemble a tiger’s, and implants to
alter the structure of his face. Here are the most bizarre and unusual
operations in medical history.

2. Happy ending for little Ming Doctors
in China have saved a young girl’s severed hand by attaching it to her
leg for three months while it healed. Ming Li, shown her after the hand
was reattached, lost it during a tractor accident in July.

3. Limb surprise
This is what Ming’s leg looked like with the hand attached. Doctors say she has recovered well since the operation and should be able to move her hand normally after some physiotherapy.
4. Tooth for an eye
Ming
isn’t the only one to undergo drastic surgery. A blind British man saw
his wife for the first time after an incredible operation transplanted
one of his teeth into his right eye. The eight-hour surgery reshaped one
of the man’s canine teeth so it could house specially-built lens,
allowing the the builder to see again.
5. The USB finger
A software developer in Finland installed a USB drive in the finger he had amputated following a motorcycle accident. He got the bizarre idea when his surgeons found out what he did for a living and joked he should have a USB stick mounted on his finger stump.
6. Desperately seeking centimetres
An Australian councillor flew to Russia have her legs
surgically lengthened because she wanted to get taller. Hajnal Ban
spent $40,000 to extend her 154cm frame by 8cm. Surgeons broke her leg
in four places and inserted metal rings, causing her to grow about 1mm
per day over a painful nine months.
7. Giving a bit of lip
Eric
Sprague aka “Lizardman” had 10 Teflon horns implanted beneath the skin
on his eyebrows. He also filed his teeth to resemble a reptile’s and
underwent more than 700 hours of tattooing.
8. Uncanny twang
US woman CindyLou Romberg woke up one morning speaking with a European accent. Doctors are not sure how she acquired the disorder known as Foreign Accent Syndrome, but one theory is it was caused by head surgery she had after a car accident in 1981.
